How It Works

Let me do the rest!

Your beautiful quilt top is almost ready to enjoy. You've done the loving labor of selecting fabrics, cutting, piecing, and pressing. But it's time to quilt, and you're at a standstill. Let me help!

Check out my pictorial about how the whole process unfold by clicking here.

Bring it to me

You can get your project to me by mail or by dropping it off in person (by appointment). I live west of High River, AB, near Calgary.

Click here to download and print my "Order Form", which will contain all the information I need to know about your quilt. If you forget, don't worry. We can fill one out together when you drop off your project.

Be sure to bring your backing fabric (pieced to the correct size - at least 8" wider and 8" longer than the quilt top). I don't care where the seam is on your backing. Just make sure to press your seams to one side.

***New in 2025: there will be a $10 surcharge for quilts with “fuzzy” backing, anything thicker than flannel. These thick fabrics require me to change the set up of my quilting frame, and they often lead to extra cleanup of “shedding” afterward, both of which demand more time for handling. Thank you for understanding!

***New in 2026: I highly recommend sewing a straight stitch (1/8” from the edge) around the entire perimeter of your quilt top, as a last touch before bringing it to me. The line of stitching keeps the seams from opening up during handling, prevents the fabric from rippling when I baste it to the batting, and makes the seams lay flat instead of getting pushed over by my hopping foot. Make sure to stitch no more than 1/4" away from the edge of your quilt top, so that the stitching gets covered up by the binding afterward.

If you want me to attach binding for you, bring your prepared-binding (pieced into one long strip and ironed in half length-wise). Binding strip should be 2.25" wide and at least 8" longer than the perimeter of your quilt top. It will come back to you ready to be hand-sewn to the back. If you'd like even more help, I can finish the binding completely - and if this is the case, you'll just need to bring yardage. Email me to discuss how much yardage is needed.

Or if you prefer, I can simply quilt your project, leaving the trimming and binding completely to your loving hands! Unless you request otherwise, I'll trim your quilt to a clean, raw edge. I will return any excess backing fabric to you with your finished quilt.

See the "Services" tab for prices concerning binding.

Pick it up

I'll send you an email or give you a call, to let you know when your finished quilt will be available for pick-up. If you'd like for me to ship it to you, I will return it via Canada Post at cost.

Payment

I prefer e-transfer or cheque made to CARRIE BEHLKE, but I can also accept cash.
