Jane's Canada 150 Quilt

My dear quilty friend, Jane, was one of my very first customers. She is such a good quilter and such a dear soul! Look at her quilt in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday. 13 VERY detailed applique blocks, representing Canada's 13 provinces and territories. The teensy tiny pieces in this quilt are insane. Lots and lots of raw-edge applique.

I applied a simple sashing treatment (pearls on a string) and border treatment (ribbon candy), as well as some very discretionary outlining (stitch-in-the-ditch) within the blocks themselves. But other than that, I let this piece speak for itself. It's it marvelous? It will adorn Jane & Gerry's cabin beautifully and patriotically!

  1. Made this as well! I love that you wrote the name of each province on the blocks, I'm going to do this too. I also used the fabric originally for the outer border for my backing. I bought some of the grey maple leaf fabric for the border instead.
