Starry Irish Chain quilt

This was a kit that I purchased from Craftsy.com 2.5 years ago, when I was saving up for my longarm quilting machine. The background space appealed to me, because I could envision adding secondary designs through the quilting. I purchased it, pieced it, and put it in the closet until I got the chance to quilt it. And that chance was this past week!

I replicated the "star" shape from the piecing with quilting in the blank squares. By using some dot-to-dot quilting, I ended up with diamond shapes, which I filled with ribbon candy, and also used orange peal and serpentine throughout the small squares.

I used one layer of Quilter's Dream Poly Select batting, which is very thin and drapey. So, even though it's pretty heavily quilted, this piece is still somewhat cuddly.

Another Scrapbuster from Carol

This quilt was from my church-quilting-friend, Carol. She just sewed together scraps from her stash, and it's the second such project she's let me quilt for her. The first one was the first quilt that I completed on my longarm machine - for someone outside the family - back in August 2015. It's fun to think back to those days. I've learned and grown so much as a longarmer since then! Thanks for always giving me such great canvases to work on, Carol!

This one received an edge-to-edge quilting treatment of peonies and loops. Have a look at the back side - Carol pieced it, and I think it's stunning in its own way!

Linda's Sampler

This was a sampler constructed by my lovely quilt client, Linda Fritz. It was a 2016 block-of-the-month project at our local quilt shop in Okotoks, AB. In fact, back in April, the gang at Rumpled Quilt Skins asked me to quilt the original store sample.

Linda let me do whatever I wanted on this lovely piece. The only request she had was to quilt on the denser side in the outer border, and she said that I didn't have to go as intense with the quilting scheme as I did with the original. Linda is such a sweet soul. Every time she brings me something, she gives me free rein and always says she loves it. What a great client to have!
