Sheep Table Runner

This was a cute little table runner that I had a lot of fun with. Shelley had begun this project, but part way through, decided she needed some back-up.

She had appliqued the lambs and leaves and sewn on the buttons. That actually gave me a little bit of a challenge, but not too much. I couldn't get very near the buttons with my quilting machine's hopping foot, so I just did a meandering motif around them.

I also helped Shelley by attaching the binding to the front of the quilt, so that it was ready for her to hand-sew to the back side of the piece, when she got it back. I think it turned out really cute!

Overlapping swirls in the darker beige background and McTavishing in the lighter background (which I hope suggested the idea of a breeze).

Quilting densely in the background and staying off the sheep helped the appliqued wool "pop up" and take on some dimension.
